Protection That Lasts Longer Than a Wash.
Ceramic coating bonds chemically to your clearcoat, adding depth to the finish and dramatically reducing how often and how hard you need to clean.
Get a Ceramic Coating QuoteWhat It Actually Does
Not a coating on top. A bond underneath.
Ceramic coating is a liquid polymer that bonds chemically to your vehicle’s clearcoat, becoming part of the surface rather than sitting on top of it. Unlike wax or sealant, it cannot be washed away. It wears from the top down, slowly, over years.
The result is a semi-permanent layer that is significantly harder and more resistant to contamination than any traditional protective product. Water, road film, and light chemical contamination all behave differently on a coated surface; they sit on top and are far easier to remove.
In direct light, the difference in gloss and depth is visible to the eye. On a dark vehicle in sunlight, a properly coated finish has a clarity that no wax produces.

Why It Matters
What changes after coating
Deeper gloss
The molecular bond enhances light refraction, adding depth and clarity that conventional wax cannot replicate.
Water sheeting
Hydrophobic properties cause water to sheet off the surface rather than bead and sit, reducing spotting.
2-5 year durability
Gyeon professional coatings are rated for two to five years, depending on the product grade and maintenance.
UV protection
The coating layer shields paint from UV oxidation, preserving colour depth and clarity in strong sunlight.
Contamination resistance
Road film, bird droppings, and industrial fallout are easier to remove before they bond to the clearcoat.
Easier routine washing
A coated vehicle needs less product and less effort at each wash. The coating does much of the protection work.
How We Work
Six steps. No shortcuts.
Every step exists for a reason. The process below is why the pricing is what it is, and why the result lasts.
Two-Stage Wash
Snow foam pre-soak followed by a thorough hand wash with pH-neutral shampoo. Wheels, arches, and door jambs are cleaned separately with dedicated tools. The goal at this stage is removing as much surface contamination as possible before any contact stage.
Chemical Decontamination
Iron fallout remover and tar solvent are applied to the paint. Both work without abrasion. The iron remover reacts with embedded ferrous particles from brake dust and road debris; the tar solvent dissolves adhesive contamination. These cannot be removed by washing alone.
Clay Bar Treatment
A clay bar is worked across the paint surface to remove embedded contamination that survived decontamination. After claying, the paint should feel completely smooth to the touch. This step determines how well the coating adheres.
Paint Inspection & Correction
Highly recommendedUnder professional inspection lighting, we assess the clearcoat for swirl marks, fine scratches, water spotting, and oxidation. If correction is needed, it happens here, before the coating locks in the surface condition permanently. See the note below on why this matters.
Surface Preparation
The paint is wiped with an IPA-based panel prep solution to remove any polishing oils, fingerprints, or residue left from the correction stage. The surface must be chemically clean, dry, and at the correct ambient temperature before the coating is applied.
Coating Application & Initial Cure
The Gyeon coating is applied panel by panel using a cross-hatch pattern to ensure even coverage. After application, the vehicle is left to begin its initial cure, typically 24-48 hours before rain or washing exposure. Full cure takes 7-14 days.
Before You Coat
Coating preserves the condition underneath. Whatever that condition is.
Ceramic coating is not a correction. It is a preservation layer. Whatever condition your paint is in when the coating goes on is the condition it will stay in for the next several years.
Swirl marks from years of incorrect washing, haze from automatic car washes, and light scratches are not removed by the coating. They are sealed underneath it. The coating will faithfully preserve and protect those defects alongside the good parts of your finish.
This is why paint correction before coating is worth taking seriously. A Stage 1 or Stage 2 correction brings the clearcoat to the best condition it has been in since the vehicle left the factory. The coating then locks that in for years.
Coating over uncorrected paint gives you a very durable, very hydrophobic vehicle where every swirl mark is permanently preserved. On a vehicle you care about, that is not a trade worth making.
“Coating first, corrected never. Corrected first, perfect for years.”
A coating applied over swirled or oxidised paint locks those defects in. A correction done first means the coating preserves a flawless finish. The sequence cannot be reversed.

FAQ
Questions about ceramic coating
Honest answers to what clients actually ask, including the questions specific to BC driving conditions.
Gyeon professional coatings are rated for two to five years depending on the product tier, how the vehicle is maintained, and where it is stored. A garage-kept vehicle that is hand washed regularly will see the upper end of that range. A daily driver parked outside in Metro Vancouver's wet climate will require maintenance closer to the two-to-three-year mark. We will advise on the right product for your situation.
BC winters are not extreme by national standards, but the combination of road salt from the Coquihalla and Highway 1, consistent rainfall, and urban pollution creates significant contamination buildup. Ceramic coating's chemical resistance makes that contamination much easier to remove before it damages the clearcoat. It is not a shield against rock chips or heavy physical abrasion, but for chemical and environmental protection it is significantly better than wax.
Touchless automatic washes (foam spray only, no physical contact) are generally safe on a coated vehicle. Brush-style automatic washes are not recommended: the brushes cause swirl marks in the clearcoat and on any coated surface. A hand wash or touchless wash every two to four weeks is ideal. We can advise on a maintenance wash routine that keeps the coating performing correctly.
The initial cure requires 24-48 hours away from rain, washing, or heavy dew. After that point, normal driving is fine. The coating reaches full hardness in approximately 7-14 days. During this window, avoid automatic washes and try to keep the vehicle out of heavy rain if possible. We will provide specific aftercare guidance based on the product applied.
Not always, but it is strongly recommended for any vehicle where the paint has visible swirl marks, haze, or scratches. Ceramic coating is a preservation layer that bonds over the current condition of your paint and maintains that condition for years. If the paint is corrected first, the coating preserves a flawless finish. If it is not corrected, the coating preserves the defects. On vehicles with newer or well-maintained paint, correction may only be minimal.
Maintenance is significantly reduced compared to an uncoated vehicle. A hand wash or touchless rinse every two to four weeks keeps the surface clean. Avoid harsh pH stripping soaps that can degrade the coating over time; pH-neutral shampoos are ideal. An annual maintenance spray (a light topping product) can extend the life of the coating. We offer maintenance detail packages that are specifically suited to coated vehicles.
Ceramic coating adds a measurable increase in surface hardness (rated on the pencil hardness scale), which helps resist very light surface scratches and swirls from normal washing. It will not prevent stone chips, key marks, or parking damage: that level of protection requires paint protection film (PPF). Ceramic coating is best understood as environmental and chemical protection rather than physical impact protection.
