Ceramic coating bonds chemically to the clearcoat rather than sitting on top of it. Water sheets off instead of sitting and spotting. Contamination stays on the coating surface rather than embedding in the paint. When you do wash the car, it takes less effort to get a clean result. The coating does much of the protection work for you.
